Balloons Could Carry Ukraine's A.I. Attack Drones Deep Inside Russia

Balloon-launched drones still need good comms, however

Ukrainian developers are testing a novel method of greatly extending the range of Ukraine’s middle-range strike drones.

A video that appeared online on Wednesday depicts a balloon lofting a Swift Beat Hornet one-way attack drone as high as 26,000 feet before releasing it.

The drone, which normally ranges around 150 miles under battery power, could range much farther with a balloon boost. Not only does the balloon carry the drone some distance, the high release also allows the drone to glide before fully engaging its propeller.
