Dodging Tracers And Searchlights, A Ukrainian Drone Targeted One Of Russia's Few Black Sea Frigates.

But not the frigate the Ukrainians wanted.

Barrelling through intensive anti-aircraft fire on May 23, a Ukrainian Fire Point FP-1 one-way attack drone struck the Russian Black Sea Fleet’s home port of Novorossiysk in southern Russia.

Exactly what the drone struck is unclear. It’s evident, from the drone’s video feed, that it took aim at the Krivak-class frigate Pytlivyy. Whether the drone actually hit Pytlivyy and inflicted meaningful damage is hard to say from the one good video of the raid shot from the ground in Novorossiysk.

Even if the FP-1 and its potentially 225-pound warhead missed Pytlivyy, Russian fleet commanders should not breathe a sigh of relief. More drones are coming. And Russian air defenses aren’t getting any more effective.
