More Ukrainian battalions have gotten American-made M-2 Bradley fighting vehicles.

As recently as this summer, the Ukrainian Bradley force stood at nine battalions, each with around 30 M-2s. Two months later, it’s possible the force has grown to 11 battalions.

It’s a big deal. The 33-ton, 10-person Bradley may be the best infantry fighting vehicle in a war where infantry—rather than tanks—lead most assaults.

The M-2s speed Ukrainian troops across the wide, drone-patrolled no-man’s-land, protecting them from mines, artillery and drone strikes until they can dismount and scurry into buildings or underground fighting positions.
