Ukraine Lost Another F-16
The fifth loss for the type

A Ukrainian air force Lockheed Martin F-16 crashed while on a combat air patrol on July 29. “According to preliminary data, an emergency situation occurred on board the aircraft,” the air force stated. “The pilot was forced to eject.”
It was Ukraine’s fifth F-16 loss since the type began flying combat sorties over Ukraine in August 2024. Three pilots have died.
In Ukrainian service, the supersonic F-16s fly defensive and offensive air patrols, jam Russian radars and drop precision glide bombs. Ukrainian F-16s recently scored their first confirmed air-to-air kill against a Russian fighter.
