On the night of May 4, Ukrainian deep strike forces double-tapped Russia’s VNIIR-Progress electronics plant in Cheboksary, 600 miles from the Russian border.

First, the Ukrainian army’s 19th Missile Brigade launched at least one Fire Point FP-5 cruise missile. Later, the Ukrainians launched Antonov An-196 one-way attack drones.

The six-ton FP-5 or FP-5s may have punched right through anti-drone cages and netting the Russian had installed at VNIIR-Progress following a strike on the facility back in June. The missiles triggered fires that burned through the night and left visible scorching by morning. (At least one analyst believes the FP-5 or FP-5s actually scored a damaging near miss rather than a direct hit.)

“Another loud night deep in Russia,” the Ukrainian Strategic Communication Center quipped. Drones struck after the sun rose.
